The PMS Connection to Losing Weight

leg-massageYou always hear, “All you have to do to lose weight is diet and exercise.” “Well that might work for some but for most women it is now enough.”

When a woman loses weight from her waist up and not waist down, her problem is hormonal and not a lack of exercise or failed dieting. It started at puberty, when the estrogen and progestrone became unbalanced.

You probably experienced cramps, bloating, weight gain, changes in your appetite (cravings especially) and changes in your atittude, every month. When you reach the ageof 25 to 32, this problem has continued and your body has the shape of a pear. No amount of exercise or dieting can reverse this. (Oprah’s body is a very good example)

In order to correct this problem, you must correct the root cause using various European treatments and procedures found only at The Body Beauté

Therapeutic Effects of Steam Bathing

The benefits of steam bathing have been recognized for thousands of years from ancient traditions to the its’ use in modern-day European and American health spas. Today steam baths are considered an integral method for purifying the body, increasing circulation, stimulating the immune system and encouraging complete physical and mental well-being.Therapists use steam baths in preparation for massage as a means of increasing the suppleness of the muscles and creating a deep sense of relaxation in the body and mind. Steam baths release toxins through the skin, and improve circulation and immune function.

Aestheticians prefer the use of steam to enhance their treatments. During a treatment the heat stimulates circulation while preparing the surface of the skin for better absorption of products. The steam cleans the skin through perspiration and creates an energy throughout the body that helps burn up fat.

Fitness users know that steam baths have a stimulating effect on the cardiovascular system. The pulse rate increases from 75 beats per minute to between 100-150 beats per minute during a 15-20 minute treatment. This increases blood circulation and enables the blood stream to carry greater amounts of nutrients to the skin, enhancing the nutritive status.

Steam reduces tension, fatigue and stress. It’s invigorating and will purify your body by releasing toxins from your pores. The powerful cleansing and healing benefits of steam will not take place until the body reaches 101 to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. With steam this is accomplished quickly and effectively and will not require long periods of time in the Comfort Steam Sauna!

Happy steam bathing! The Body Beauté in Orange County at (949) 945-7260, and in Beverly Hills at (213) 787-5778.

Lymphatic Obstruction and MLD

Lymphatic obstruction is blockage of the lymph nodes, the vessels that drain fluid from tissues throughout the body and allow immune cells to travel where needed.  Causes of lymphatic obstruction can include skin infections such as cellulitis or injury (trauma).

Treatment can include range of motion exercises and MLD-Manual Lymph Drainage.   MLD is a light massage technique that consists of gentle, rhythmic massaging of the skin in particular directions based on the structure of the lymphatic system. This technique stimulates the lymph nodes to open, and helps encourage drainage of the fluid and waste through the appropriate channels. The treatment is very comfortable and nonaggressive.

Discovering Beauty

I had just paid a huge repair bill for my automobile when I went to dress and glanced in the mirror. It looked like my body could use some maintenance too. What happened to my good-looking legs and firm tummy? Even with healthy eating habits and moderate exercise, I still couldn’t get rid of the extra fat and cellulite.

If my automobile is worth putting that much money into, I’m worth it too. I decided it’s time to visit a slimming spa as I refuse to get this surgically repaired.I ended up in a European style salon in Newport Beach called The Body Beauté. During the initial, consultation with Deborah Marie McCamie, we discussed my lifestyle and she asked precise questions regarding my personality. Based on the shape of my body she was able to draw several conclusions regarding my general character traits, which helped her to determine the best approach for my problems. Among other things I learned that my body needs a series of detoxification and lymph drainage treatments….

….When I understood the basic principles I put my trust in Deborah’s choices of methods. She has an impressive background with her continuous research of slimming methods used worldwide and utilizing it since 1982, I decided to enjoy every step of the process.

[My treatments included] …a steam bath…. [a] Bio-Bath sauna filled with essentials oils… a special machine was used to energize various points of my body… a light was applied on different acupressure points and made me feel like the rainbow was used to heal and cleanse my body and my very soul…a massage with essential oils…European clay wraps…[and other treatments that] worked deep into my skin to dissolve the toxins and fat. To release the blockage in the lymph system and to make sure that the blood flow is unobstructed. I’ll need several treatments. I thought it was a very pleasure method.

Deborah McCamie skillfully combines the eastern methods with the beauty secrets of Europe from Italy through Sweden. I was glad that the ancient traditions were combined with modern technology. I left the salon rejuvenated. Some how many happy moments of the past were awakened in me. My skin was smooth, I felt light and elevated. It was more than a treatment, more that a detoxification of my lymph system. The lights of the rainbow cleaned the toxins away. The visit to the world famous beauty spa released the beauty within me. This experience is being repeated.

Aiding Detoxificatoin via the Lymphatic System

One of the primary focuses of the Body Beauté system is aiding detoxification via the lymphatic system. The Lymphatic System, which includes the spleen, thymus, tonsils and bone marrow, is constantly defending the  body against millions of microscopic attackers. The lymphatic system is given considerable attention in the treatment of toxicity as well as reducing edema. Shallow breathing is one of the roots which causes the lymphatic system to become sluggish, which can cause circulation to the tissue cells to be impaired. This, in turn, can affect removal of toxic waste(s).

If toxins are not eliminated from one’s cells effectively, numerous disorders influencing the Immune System will develop. The Body Beauté’s treatments effectively and speedily move body fluids, aiding the lymphatic system in detoxification and rejuvenation particularly important for individuals living in very toxic (smog) areas such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Baltimore, and other locales.

Not Your Average Weight Loss Program

“I can’t believe I just paid that much!” I thought as I walked out the door. “The director did say she guaranteed the program, so I’ll probably get free treatments for life!” I am not gullible and I have tried so many different plans, so something the director, Deborah McCamie said during the get acquainted session must have made sense to me.It’s not that I was really overweight by any medical standards. I actually eat a very healthy diet, exercise quite a bit, don’t binge, and generally eat small portions as a result of a lifetime of trying to lose weight and stay in shape…. Having managed to stay an acceptable weight the first half of my adult life, over the last 15 or 20 years my clothes kept getting smaller and smaller…. “You’re getting older,” I would think, “and women are supposed to gain weight and inches as they age.” Still, I did not like to see the scale slowly registering higher numbers and my wardrobe regularly shrinking….

During those years, I tried every “diet” that sounded even slightly healthy, from total no-carbs, to replacement shakes, to programmed prepared meals, and all to no avail. I followed each diet’s regulations conscientiously for a minimum of one or two months. My weight did not go up, but it never went down either. I really had given up thinking I would just keep gaining slowly as I got older, when I saw a Get-Acquainted offer for getting a flat tummy in two weeks in the newspaper. The price was higher than a two hour massage at any day spa, but I was intrigued. I called and asked some questions to make sure there were no invasive or really questionable procedures. Then out of curiosity, I made an appointment.

The get acquainted appointment lasted over three hours. It included being measured, getting sample treatments with special creams and massaging machines, and a conversation with the director, Deborah McCamie, who proposed a goal and a plan to get there. “I am not inexpensive, but I get results. I guarantee it,” she said.

Still totally skeptical, I didi sign up for a set of treatments…. I had a major case of buyer’s remorse as I walked out the door. “I won’t tell anyone what I am doing,” I thought. “I’ll try what she said – but it probably won’t work with me.”

I followed Deborah’s guidelines for eating, had three treatments the first week and two the next week because of a holiday. I lost some of that bloated feeling, but really did not notice any real weight loss or size change. “Do you see people losing weight with these treatments?” I asked the therapist as I sat in a mini steam room. “Yes, I see people losing inches,” she said quietly. I was still skeptical.

The third and fourth week, I had two and three treatments respectively and that is when it happened. My scale which has been permanently stuck in one position for well over 5 years started showing a much lower number! My tightest paints suddenly fit better! Something somehow had pulled a plug on my body and the weight and inches started draining away. After 5 weeks, I had lost about 8 1/2 pounds and at least two inches each from my waist and thighs. I had originally thought I heeded to lose about 6 pounds, and here I was almost 9 pounds lighter! Deborah McCamie simply smiled knowingly and recommended I stay with it for a few more sessions to get just below this level before I went on a maintenance program. I continued spreading the treatments out over the next month and lost a few more pounds and another inch or so.

I still cannot believe it, but it happened and I cannot say for sure exactly how or why it worked for me, but it did. I am sure the results from the Body Beauté treatments vary with the individual. And that’s precisely the reason that this program works. Deborah McCamie personally individualizes each treatment and all the dietary recommendations for each client she sees, and changes it according to your results during the sessions. This is definitely not a one-size-fits-all program – and that is exactly what makes your size decrease!

Water- The Elixir of Life

Water is the elixir of life. Drinking water is important for good health. Our bodies are estimated to be comprised of approximately 60%-70% water. Our muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a lot of water, and our blood is mostly water. Water is necessary to regulate body temperature and to transport nutrients to all our organs. Water transports oxygen to the cells, removes waste, and protects joints and organs. Thirst is a sign of dehydration but the human body usually needs water long before you feel thirsty. Symptoms of mild dehydration can include chronic pain in the joints, muscles, lower back, headaches and constipation.

So how much water should you drink? A good estimate is to take your body weight in pounds and divide that number in half. That gives you the number of ounces of water per day that you need to drink. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink at least 80 ounces of water per day. If you exercise you should drink another eight ounce glass of water for every 20 minutes you are active. If you drink alcohol, you should drink at least an equal amount of water. When you are traveling on an airplane, it is good to drink eight ounces of water for every hour you are on board the plane.

It may take planning to drink enough water each day but the payoff in good health is worth the effort.
